Residents Charter |

- Residents needs will be of paramount importance with care centred on meeting the specific requirements of each individual.
- Residents have the right to choice, privacy, dignity and freedom consistent with their own safety and the safety of others.
- Residents
have the right to participate in the formulation of their own care
plans and to receive treatment in accordance with their individual
plans.
- If preferred residents may choose to discuss health related matters with staff of the same sex .
- In
meeting needs, the preferences and agreement of residents will always
be sought and used as valuable information to guide individual treatment
and formulate care plans.
- Residents and their
representatives have the right to make comment or complaint to the
registered manager or the register provider. Information about the
procedure and the relevant contacts will be available to each
resident.
Privacy:
- Residents
have free access to their lockable rooms where complete privacy is
respected and admission of others is by consent only.
- A lockable piece of furniture will be provided in each bedroom.
- Resident's personal affairs will be discussed in private and treated as strictly confidential.
Dignity:
- Residents will be spoken to in a polite courteous manner in the way that they have chosen to be addressed.
- Residents
are considered to be individuals and accordingly they, their families,
visitors and possessions will be treated with respect.
- Residents
will be free from worry of any form of abuse that may cause them
physical or psychological harm or create disadvantage.
- Residents
will be given assurance to overcome any difficulty arising from
physical disability or religious, cultural and language differences.
Choice:
- Residents
will be given information relating to their care and treatment allowing
them to make informed decisions on giving consent or declining
treatment as they wish.
- Residents will have the opportunity to contribute to the organisation of daily routines and activities within the home.
- Residents will have the freedom to choose how they organise their time, who they spend it with and what they do.
- Residents
will have the freedom to come and go as they would in their own home,
observing the courteousness of informing the person-in-charge and
indicating where they are going and approximate time of return.
- Residents
will continue to enjoy the same rights as any other citizen living in
the community. The only exception being when a detention order under
the Mental Health Act 1983 is applied. Information for such residents
is given separately.
